For several years I’ve suffered with Sciatica and lower back pain on and off which has gotten progressively worse until by early 2016 I was having at least one “flare up” every month, whereby I would need to take pain killers and muscle relaxants to stay mobile and keep working.
It was clear I had to be pro-active and address the lack of strength and mobility in my lower back and core to overcome this problem – Neurologists and Physical Therapists recommended I take up yoga, and I was lucky enough to find Mel.
Over the course of around a year Mel has tutored me one-on-one twice a week, and I cant speak highly enough of her skills and knowledge. Mel has helped me regain flexibility and mobility not just in my lower back but my whole body.
My core and overall strength has improved, and most importantly of my back pain has been almost nonexistent. It’s a result I wasn’t sure was possible. Once we started working together it became clear that my stiff and “delicate” back had led to other parts of my body compensating and stiffening up, which only served to further compound the back issues.
Every session Mel would build on the last and quite quickly I saw tangible improvements that gave me confidence that I had found the right tutor to help me.
As an instructor Mel is motivational, and is able to tailor a session around a person’s ability – our sessions became incrementally more challenging at a pace that suited my own increasing capabilities and the strength and flexibility that I was developing.
Each session pushed me a little bit further, and was always rewarding as a result.
I wasn’t sure if Yoga would be right for me and my physical issues, but it has without doubt improved my back condition and overall flexibility and strength.
I can highly recommend Yoga as a tool for improving physical strength and fitness, and Mel as an instructor is the perfect person to help you on that journey.

As a teacher, I know what good teaching looks like.. And Melanie is excellent at it. It takes considerable skill and an in depth knowledge of what you are teaching to be able to identify the needs of the individuals and then cater to all those needs at the same time.. And Melanie does it without missing a beat.
Not once did I ever feel that I couldn’t do what everyone else was doing and she instinctively seemed to know the times I needed an extra push. My complete lack of balance and flexibility were soon things of the past thanks to Melanie’s constant encouragement and support.

I live in HK and was going to be in my hometown KL for 10 days. I just finished 200 ytt and 100 hours kids ytt course in HK and wanted some one on one classes while in KL. A friend looked it up online and passed me Mel’s number.
Before I did a class with her I had a class with another yoga teacher and was a bit discouraged. Mel was amazing. She knows her yoga and identified the areas I needed to work on and gave me a lot of helpful tips. Her help made all the difference to my poses and me understanding how to better my posture with my mild scoliosis. Looking forward to having more sessions with her when I’m back in KL.

My partner and I had been living in KL for a few years and I needed something to sort out my never ending back and neck issues.. And we needed something to do as a team that would help us get fit, give us something to focus on other than work and for me try and sort out my aches and pains. I found Melanie through Google! What a stroke of luck, my inclination to reach out was because of her international past and experience. She was efficient, helpful and exceptionally nimble given our time constraints and expectations. We were blown away by her professionalism and knowledge and knew immediately after our first session that she was a keeper.
Almost a year on now we are so thankful to have Melanie in our lives. She has helped identify where my aches and pains are while helping my partner hit his goals in terms of his flexibility and strength also. We look forward to our weekly sessions with Mel for some peace of mind, a real work out and her incredibly encouraging, motivational and enthusiastic spirit.
We would strongly recommend Melanie for any beginner, intermediate and advanced needs with yoga. She is patient, targets our needs even though they are different, pushes you to the limit and knows how to keep you motivated. We are heartbroken to have to move away overseas- it was literally the first thing we both said "what will we do without Mel?!"
