Leg cramps in pregnancy are not fun! If you’ve ever had a ‘charley horse’ or sudden cramping pain in the leg or calf, it is certainly not enjoyable! No one knows exactly why they happen and there are a slew of things you can try, like eating more bananas for potassium. But sometimes these tips don’t help. Muscle cramps are muscle fatigue. Having a baby puts stress on your body in many different manner and forms.
I found moving more and often, helps. Plus some specific stretch and strengthening techniques targeted at the calves. Luckily, I did not have them frequently, but only a handful of times. When I did, this video below was my go to calf stretch routine to help increase blood flow and give not only a stretch onto the tissue, but dually helping to strengthen the tissue to help manage the added pressure and force being put upon it.
Give this move a try out and let me know if it helps you find some relief!
